About Nessie

As someone who’s suffered from injuries that have once limited my quality of life, I know the value of a good stretch and how hard it is to find. So, I work hard to bring you the ultimate stretching experience. I am a certified yoga instructor, personal trainer, and sports nutritionist.

I am also a lifelong athlete, currently a competitive roller derby player. and field hockey player. I played Division 1 lacrosse and club rugby in college, so I understand the trauma that the body endures. My ultimate goal is to help people return to their quality of life by relieving trauma in the body that keeps the body from moving at its best.

About Stretching

Nessie’s Pro Assisted Stretching is a combination of PNF, yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, and Mana Lomi (Hawaiian body work) that removes trauma from the bones, and Myofascial Release. All which increases Range of Motion (ROM), and flexibility.  I use a hands-on approach to managing pain and discomfort by releasing fascia and scar tissue. I safely stretches out body tension which increases blood flow and relieve built-up stress that has accumulated in the body over time.

Everyone knows how to stretch, but Assisted Stretching allows the muscles to move beyond their current ROM and flexibility which creates a deeper, and more effective stretch that improves how the muscles function. Assisted Stretching increases blood flow, and injury prevention.

THE EXPERIENCE

1-on-1 Assisted Stretching

Here’s the gist…I ask about your goals, areas you want to focus on and then we get to it. Depending on the stretch type (and time) you choose, you’ll get a deep, but heavenly hands-on stretch like you’ve never had before. I will stay in communication with you throughout your session to make sure you are comfortable.

During your session, your body will get massaged, kneaded, and the muscles and fascia will be stretched (PNF) to work out the problem areas. The bodywork techniques I perform is done by applying pressure to tight or sore areas to get them to relax. This pressure is applied with hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows.  You may feel sore afterwards, but when the soreness subsides, you will notice that you have more ROM and flexibility than you did before.

Please Note: Do not expect a gentle massage with aromatherapy or pan flute music. The first few sessions can be an intense experience depending on the amount of trauma that is stored in the body.

 

Assisted Stretching is the simplest yet phenomenal thing you can do to significantly move your body better.I want to make what was once reserved for professional athletes accessible to anyone who wants to feel better and do more of what they love, but most importantly increase your quality of life.

About Yoga

Yoga sessions are private and are for 1-2 people. This is the perfect way to individualize and customize your yoga practice. It makes it ideal for beginners, people working through an injury, learning proper structure and how to prevent injuries, achieving advanced poses, and simply creating a yoga routine.

Private Yoga sessions are for people who are:

  • Trying Yoga for the first time

  • Need help creating a structure for personal practice

  • Prefer a greater level of guidance or more personalized experience

  • Prefer individual attention to alignment and breathing

  • Want to learn about philosophy, relaxation, or meditation

  • Interested in focusing on a particular pose or group of poses

  • Looking to learn how to modify poses for your body or work more skillfully with (non-acute) injury

  • Are busy and just want to set your own class times
